Workplace pensions. Even for one employee

It’s The Final Countdown

workplace pensions for small business and employersFrom today, June 1st 2015, employers with less than 30 employees will begin to be incorporated into the government workplace pension scheme in a process called automatic enrolment.

You might have seen in the news that the full impact of this change has suddenly become clear.  People with disabilities who employ carers will have to participate as will people who employ nannies or cleaners.

So whether you employ a few people in a shop, an engineering workshop or an office you need to get prepared.

Incorporation into the scheme is being staged.  You can check when you will reach your “staging date (when you have to begin complying with auto enrolment legislation) using your PAYE reference number.  Visit the pensions regulator website to do this today.

By the time the staging date arrives you will need to have established a pension scheme and have all the admin ready to enrol staff, manage pension membership and deal with the payroll implications.

If any of this sounds complicated or time consuming then Lewis Smith & Co. is available to help.  Our trusted partners can help you choose a pension scheme and then we can help you set up and run all of the administration required – opt-outs, new starters, the payroll….
